BOD Group started its activities in 1998 by opening the first production facility of recorded data discs (CD/DVD) in the Baltic States.

Since 1999, most of the CDs released in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are produced in the Baltic Optical Disc factory in Vilnius.

• In September 2002, a new CD factory was opened in Vilnius.
• In May 2005, a new DVD production line was established in Vilnius factory.
• In the beginning of 2006, a new CD/DVD replication factory (AS Baltic Disc) was opened near the vicinity of Tallinn in Laagri in the new commercial & industrial building of the BOD Group.

Since 2006, the Baltic Disc factory has become a launching pad of the group directed toward Nordic countries. Today, the export to the Nordics comprises a significant part of Baltic Disc’s revenue.

• In the summer of 2011, Vilnius factory started the production of BLU-RAY discs as one of the first ones in the Baltic Sea region.

Baltic Disc AS

Baltic Disc AS was established in 2004. The main activity of the company is the industrial production (replication) of CD/DVD/BLU-RAY discs. Discs are also referred to as pressed discs to differentiate them from the data recorded on CD-R, DVD-R or BD-R discs.

The predecessor of Baltic Disc was Helisalv AS, established in 1994 by the top performer in the field – Boriss Dubrovski. Between 1996 and the summer of 2004, Estonian customers’ CD/DVD/MC orders were fulfilled by Helisalv AS which was the official representative of German-Lithuanian company UAB Baltic Optical Disc (the predecessor of UAB BOD GROUP) in Estonia.

Due to the increase in workload and number of customers, a new company was established in the summer of 2004 – Baltic Disc AS. In the same year, the construction of the factory started in Estonia.

In the autumn of 2005, the newest CD/DVD industrial replicating factory in the Baltic Sea region was completed in Laagri on the border of Tallinn. The official opening of the CD/DVD factory took place in March 2006. The first discs, however, were already being produced in the new factory since November 2005.

Today, our production makes up 80-85% of the total domestic CD/DVD production. About 80% of our production is exported to other European Union member states, mainly to the Nordic countries. The main export markets are Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Germany.

Initially, the production capacity of the Estonian factory was 22 000 CDs per day. In 2006, a DVD production line (Netstal + Steag Hamatech) was added with a production capacity of approx. 33 000 DVDs (DVD-5; DVD-9; DVD-10) per day.

Starting from the summer of 2011, we also offer the service of industrial production of BLU-RAY discs.

In 2019, BOD Lenses AS, a company focused on optics, expanded to Estonia. Baltic Disc OÜ (formerly CD Lahendused OÜ), a partner with long-term experience, continues the work with CD/DVD/BLU-RAY discs.

BOD Group

BOD Group is the largest producer of recorded data CD/DVD/BLU-RAY discs in the Baltic States.

Regarding the production of laser discs, the group owns an industrial CD/DVD/BLU-RAY replication plant in Vilnius, the market share of the BOD Group in the Baltics comprises nearly 90% of locally released discs.

BOD exports approximately 75% of its production. The main export destinations are the Baltic States, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, United Kingdom and France.

Reliability in terms of copyright protection is ensured by the fact that both factories have concluded manufacturing contracts with the Nordisk Copyright Bureau.

Both production units have entered into licensing agreements with Philips for the use of DVD technology, which allows the factories to sell their products throughout Europe. For example, the factories that do not have a license agreement may not even sell their products in the Nordic countries.
