About copyrights
According to the Copyright Act, the works of other authors – including musical works – may only be reproduced under the authorisation (license) granted by the authors of these works. Reproduction includes making copies of works on audio data carriers. The association representing the recording rights of most musical works – both Estonian and foreign – is Nordisk Copyright Bureau (NCB), based in Copenhagen. EAÜ (Estonian Authors’ Society) has entered into a cooperation agreement with the NCB, according to which authorisations to record musical works are granted in Estonia on behalf of the NCB by the NCB department at EAÜ. EAÜ/NCB contact person is:
Margus-Koit Kivistik, phone: 6684 367, email: margus@eau.org
Before placing an order, we ask all customers to send a notification to EAÜ/NCB about the CD, DVD, BLU-RAY to be ordered and the musical works recorded on it. If the notification indicates that the reproduction of musical works requires the permission of the EAÜ/NCB and the payment of the required royalties, the EAÜ/NCB shall immediately inform the customer of the fact and request additional information necessary for the granting of the reproduction authorisation. EAÜ/NCB may prohibit Baltic Disc OÜ from fulfilling a customer’s order if the customer has not sent the required information to EAÜ/NCB and until the EAÜ/NCB’s requirements have been met.
The application form required for obtaining a recording authorisation and information on terms and conditions as well as prices are available at EAÜ webpage.
NB! If the customer does not send the necessary application to the EAÜ/NCB at the latest on the day of placing the order, the EAÜ/NCB shall charge the customer a royalty in the amount of 1.5 times the tariff rate. If the customer does not submit the necessary application to the EAÜ/NCB and the EAÜ/NCB discovers the disc is being sold, the EAÜ/NCB shall charge the customer a royalty in the amount of double the tariff rate.
